Day 43
Daily distance: 7.17 miles
Weekly distance: 7.17 miles
Training distance: 181.81 Miles
Pace: Around 20 min miles
Time/Temperature: 10:00 a.m. 30's, 5:00 p.m. 30's

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!
I broke my run in to two runs today. But the first part was HARD!! Oh my was it hard. I didn't know the elevation would be over 850 feet incline to my destination. I wasn't expecting that at all! And just like the other day, I had somewhere to be for lunch and I knew I wouldn't make my seven miles. I have to do better about that. I had wanted to go to Sunset Point for a while though and so I tackled it. It is my birthday and I would have not felt right if I wouldn't have done what I had originally planned. I was glad that I made the trek. The sky wasn't as clear as it could be and I will make the trip up there again sometime. I will for sure do it when I have time though and when the sky is clear. It was so cold at the top! The way back down the mountain was scary! My dog kept pulling me and I was afraid he would drag me right off the path and that would not be good on the side of the mountain! So I let him off the leash for my own safety. That didn't make the other hiker with the huge scary dog happy that we passed as Austin tried to kill the huge massive dog before I would get my hands on him and re leash him, all of this on a tiny skinny rocky path with hundreds feet drop a few inches away! It was wild. Then I had to use the restroom, so I did...and peed all over my own sock. Ah! The joys.
My evening run to finish out my mileage was short and sweet. My legs were super tired from earlier.

Training distance: 174.64 Miles
Pace: 10:30
Time/Temperature: 10:00 a.m. Sunny and 50's

I felt a bit rushed today because I had somewhere to be at 12:15 and the entire time I know that I would be really pushing it to get the run done, get home and be where I needed on time. I need to make sure that when I have long runs from here on out that I make sure I have plenty of time to get the run down. I am more relaxed and run better when I am not stressed.
I wanted to run somewhere else and couldn't do to time constraints so I was bored with the scenery. The actual mileage was fine. But I was overall not happy about the run. I really loved the weather though!
This is the last week of long runs being below 10 miles. It is massive uphill mileage from here on out.

Day 40
Today turned in to another rest day. But this one needs to be called lazy day because it wasn't supposed to be a rest day.
I woke up in Gatlinburg and it was so lovely! I didn't get home until the evening and right after I got back I had some girlfriends come over for movie night. So there was no run. Sorry folks!

Day 39
Today was rest day!
I was going to get up this morning and get my tomorrow's run done today so I wouldn't have to tomorrow. I am going to be on a trip with my sweetie and don't want to have to bother with it. But it didn't work. I woke up at 5:30 and it was freezing cold, dark and pouring down rain.

Weekly distance: 11.13miles
Training distance: 165.52 Miles
Pace: 14:20
Time/Temperature: 5:30 p.m. iside treadmill

I think that myfitness pal is not accurate on the sodium today. It gave a very large sodium and fat content to the homemade spaghetti that I marked. But the calories seem accurate. It is a process. I am seeing where I have significant problems in my diet and where I need to improve. I am still reading Racing Weight by Matt Fitzgerald and I am trying to figure out what is being said and pay more attention.

I almost walked the entire three miles tonight on my treadmill. The other night on the treadmill at the gym was great and I was pouring sweat, but I just didn't want to go there last night. I was lazy and wanted to walk. I still felt very exhausted over my emotionally draining week. I turned on the television and tried to start jogging but I didn't want to sweat and breath heavy. So I walked. I also realize that I never do a great workout after mid afternoon. There is a certain cut off in my day where it just isn't the same. I can sometimes muster a great workout, but rarely can I muster a good run in the second part of the day. Perhaps this is mental or perhaps it is diet. It doesn't really matter to me though, I would rather just make sure to get my runs out earlier in the day.

I didn't feel like running today at all, but the run was pleasant. I ran at an easy pace and was a bit more tired about it than normal. I enjoyed the weather and peace of the run. This week has been very difficult with one of my sons and the emotional strain has really affected my performance. It was a very pleasant evening though with that son and that was really needed. My ex husband took the other two kids so that we could work on repairing the week and our bond. I took him out to chinese food which was not and is never a good option or choice for someone! My stomach was in knots the rest of the evening. I couldn't even begin to log the food that I ate there and my calories are surely conservative in the graph below. The rest of the day was a good day with a lot of water consumption.

So far I haven't completely succeeded in separating my personal life from my training. It has gotten better over the years, but sometimes it still affects it. I would love to get to the point where no matter what is happening that I can put every single thing on hold and knock out a kick butt run/workout.
I enjoyed good music during this run. I listened to my pandora station, Amber's Peace. I noticed that it kept cycling on the contemporary Christian feed. I was completely okay with that today. There has been a lot of prayer this week.

8 Ways to Piss Off a Runner
That article is fun and I agree with them all!
1. I get mad at my own dog when I take him on a run. He will get too close to me and I will kick him with my heal or have to shorten a step when he is too close in front.
2. This is so annoying when walkers hog the entire path. I don't run on a track, but the same applies for trails/paths. It really is annoying when those walkers hogging the path are also smoking.
3. My children have seen real wrath when they approach me for something on my way out of the door for a run. This one also applies when you plan on taking a morning run and something bumps it to later. I find myself fighting the crabbiness the entire day until I can get my run in.
4. I had to use the elliptical for months when my heel was broken. It was so annoying!!
5. This one is hilarious to me. My boyfriend thinks I am always ravenously hungry. I need food!!
6. I thankfully haven't been injured lately. But this is true.
7. This one is not true to me. You can call me a jogger if you want. But I jog a million more miles than you ever attempt to run.
8. Amen to this one! My thighs are always the tightest part of my jeans. Drives me bonkers.
I ran my three miles during my daughter's gymnastics class. They have a workout room for the parents! I loved hammering it out during her class but I missed watching her class and she missed me watching. I will try to not make it a habit to have to workout during that time. The run felt fantastic. It was great to run on a treadmill that accurately tracked my speed and distance.
Yesterday we had a work lunch celebrating January birthdays and a new employee so I didn't feel I could skip out on that. My diet was decent today. I am still completely out of whack though with my carbs, fats, protein. I need a lot more protein. My fat is currently my largest portion of food and a lot of that is from my darn coffee creamer. I don't want to give it up though!! I thought my entire day would be thrown off by it being taco night but children's behavior cancelled taco night. That is bad because we all love taco night but good for my caloric intake and quality of food.

Day 35
CROSS TRAINING
I did push ups, shoulder sets, burpees, mountain climbers and jumped a lot of rope in order to burn 425 calories.
I did push ups, shoulder sets, burpees, mountain climbers and jumped a lot of rope in order to burn 425 calories.
I knew for awhile that I needed to start tracking my food and fluid intake again. And to remain on point with this, I plan on posting it here. I may not get this done everyday, but I want to post enough to get a really good viewpoint at this time of what I am eating. Because something is off in the kitchen for me to be holding on to this extra 10 pounds and I need to focus and get it off. I know how to do it and I can eat very healthy when I put my mind to it.
I have also decided that all days that I am running less than 10 miles that I will cross train. For a goal of burning approximately 600-1000 calories a day. I will do my best not to cheat, but I am also not going to turn myself in to a drill sergeant for myself either. I have to figure out how to enjoy my coffee without so much sugar/creamer. Each day I am putting about 200 calories in to my coffee. I love my coffee but perhaps what I am loving is the sugar/creamer. I will evaluate this and see if I can or ultimately want to change. I also had morning sausage again yesterday and while that is delicious, it does nothing positive for my running or my body.
I am reading Racing Weight and am excited to refresh my mind and learn new things. Over the last six months I had brought butter, reeses peanut butter cups, chips with melted cheese and the list goes on and on, back in to my life. I plan on removing them again. If you are a runner and have any food tips please feel free to post them! I love to hear.

I couldn't have asked for a better day to run! The weather was fantastic. There was a bit of wind but it ended up being appreciated as I got going. I ran the levee in Chattanooga and I didn't knwo how far it was. Sadly it was only 3 miles long. So I had to run down a major road for a couple of miles and then turn around. I got back to Camp Jordan at only 9.5 miles and had to run the loop. It was annoying, but now I know!
I am very happy with my second split. I was just sick of running so I picked up the pace. I kept being surprised that I kept the pace up. At mile 11 I wanted to stop and I thought I slowed down, but I did not and ended up with my last mile being my fastest. It felt really good. In two weeks I will run my first half marathon distance and that will give me a better idea where my marathon pace will be.
In the morning before church I had:
2 pancakes
2 sausage patties
1 grilled eg
2 cups of coffee
Right before the run I had:
Grilled chipotle wrap (disgusting)
Bottle of water
GU Roctane gels
During the run I had:
1 Frost Ice Gatorade
2 GU Roctane gels
I will definitely forgo the sausage patties on race day. Those are never a smart idea. Thankfully I won't have to worry about shoving in a lunch prior to running. I felt good. I didn't get shaky or dehydrated.
I had great gps service and got to track my run and listen to music the entire time. I listened to everything from slow easy listening to dubstep. My right hand went to sleep. I think it was due to my polar watch being too tight and my phone arm band. It was annoying.
Pleased with this week! On to the next!

Training distance: 139.39 Miles
Pace: 11:17
Time/Temperature: 2:00 p.m. 56 degrees, sunny

It was a great day for a run! I love running in the 50's. Today was a pace run day. I decided to go off my instinct and see if I could guess my pace. As of this moment I am aiming to run an 11:30 minute pace. I will get a better idea if this is where I need to actually be as my runs continue to increase in distance. I think guessing my pace and ending up so close to 11:30 is really good!
It is about time for me to get my shoes purchased for my race. I ran with no music again because I was worried my phone would die and I don't have any music on my new shuffle yet. I was aware of the pretty weather and the horrible stench of whatever factory I was passing (either chicken or cow).
Tomorrow is 12 miles. It's been three weeks since I did that distance. And I skipped out on my 11 mile run last week. I am sure it will be fine though.

I ran a completely new route today and was satisfied with the hill work that was in it. I was dealing with a lot of anxiety today and running is my therapy. I blasted my Pandora station and zoned out for an hour.
Felt very good. I am satisfied with my splits.
I spent quite a bit of time in thought and prayer for my brother. I thought about how he has taken care of me in the last year and a half and supported my running. I was just thinking of him fondly and thinking about how much I love him. Thank you brother if you're reading this.
The picture that is posted with this entry is of the tips road bridge in Dalton. Those are padlocks of love I guess. I was completely zoned out as I was running over this bridge and about jumped out of my shoes when a huge white semi passed directly under the bridge and entered my peripheral vision. It really did a number on my orientation and woke me up for a second.

I just had to show off my new pants that my new sweetie got me! Purple animal print...can't beat that!! And they are warm and soft and snuggly. I want to wear them all the time. Too bad it seems taboo to wear workout pants at my job or perhaps I would. *smiles*
I also got this little purple ipod shuffle surprise in the mail today!! Thank you to the friend that got me this!! I love you girl!!!
It was a great run. I felt energized and picked up my tempo.
